DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO PREPARE FOR YOUR WEDDING IN ITALY:
A letter from an Orthodox Rabbi stating that you and your fiancé are both Jewish and are not currently married (Theudat Ravakut and Yahadut);stating that you are free of any obstacle to get married according to the Jewish faith. If you want a civil wedding in addition to the Jewish one you must submit an official state document certifying the “nulla osta” to your marriage. Additional documentation may be required, the Rabbi responsible will tell what is needed if necessary.
Beside the required documents in original copies, by way of tradition it is suggested that the groom brings a simple ring for the bride and that the bride brings a new Taliith for the groom. These are wonderful old traditions
The Rabbi will tell the couple the parts of the ceremony that they will need to repeat, declaring the intention of the groom to take his bride as his wife according to the laws of Moses and Israel.Both the bride and groom will then sign a marital contract, the Ketubah in which you will declare to take upon yourself all the legal and moral obligations towards one and other as established by the laws and the customs of Israel.
